Obituary of Barbara T. Gianninoto

Barbara DiCosmo Gianninoto, age 66 of Shelton, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 21, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of 47 years to Louis Gianninoto. Born in Bridgeport on April 13, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Filomena Rose (Soares) DiCosmo and was a longtime resident of Shelton.

Barbara was a Zumba instructor for many years and enjoyed sewing, gardening and crocheting. Her true passion was being a nanny to the many children she cared for. Whether it be for family or friends, she was always there to help, was nurturing and a mother to all. She was a loving wife and mother and devoted to her grandchildren who were the light of her life. To know her was to love her, and to be loved by her was the greatest gift. She will be greatly missed by the many people she touched.

In addition to her beloved husband Louis, survivors include her four loving children, Bryan, Stephen and Amy Gianninoto and Laura Ostvik and her husband Bjornulf, two brothers, Pat DiCosmo (Gail), Floyd DiCosmo (Chuck), a half brother, Stephen Chapman and two cherished grandchildren, Kristian and Elise as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at Yale Smilow, the home hospice nurses at Constellation especially Tonia, the nurses and staff at Davita in Blackrock and Trumbull especially Brittany.

All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, August, 24, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. directly in St. Joseph Church, 50 Fairmont Place, Shelton. Interment will follow in Mount St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. Friends may greet the family Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
