Obituary of Joyce E. Vena

Joyce E. Vena, age 87, of Stratford, CT entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 12, 2023 in Complete Care Glendale in Naugatuck. Born on July 31, 1936 in Bridgeport CT, Joyce graduated from Harding High School. She was the wife of the late Anthony (Tony) Vena and daughter of the late Morris and Evelyn Benedict. Joyce worked as a cashier for First National Supermarkets for many years and then retired from First Union where she worked as a switchboard operator. She enjoyed watching sports, especially the New York Yankees and also enjoyed her many trips to the casino. She was a past president for the Bridgeport Emblem Club, past Den Mother, Brownie Leader and enjoyed being in the YMCA Aqua Maids.  But above all, Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joyce leaves behind to cherish her memory a son Christopher and his wife Lori, a daughter Mary Vitka and her husband Kenneth, a brother Kenneth (Kathie) Benedict, four grandchildren; Jennifer (Jason) Paradise, Michael (Natalie) Vena, Nicole (Greg) Repko, and Dannielle (Scott) Kerrigan and seven great grandchildren; Emma, Jack, Julianna, Mia, Camden, Nolan, and Hudson.

In addition to her husband and parents, Joyce was pre-deceased by a son Anthony Jr., and brother Donald Benedict.

The family would like to thank the staff at Bridgeport Hospital, and the Sunflower unit at Complete Care Glendale as well as Accentcare for the care and compassion during her final journey.

Friends may greet the family on Monday, August 21, 2023 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. meet directly in St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam La., Stratford. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Shelton.
