Born on April 16, 1945 in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late William and Grace Kelemencky Sopek. Bill was a retired Police Officer for the City of Bridgeport with 25 years of dedicated service. A lifelong Bridgeport resident, Bill took pride in patrolling the city and keeping the citizens of Bridgeport safe. He was a U.S Navy veteran serving on the USS WASP and a Veteran Member of Port 5, where he enjoyed fishing off the dock and the camaraderie of the other Port 5 vets.

He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and especially salt-water fishing and fresh water fishing with his daughter, Jessica. Bill was an avid pool player and was successful in many area tournaments. He was an avid Pinochle player and looked forward to the weekly "Guys against the Girls" match with his wife, his sister-in-law, Joyce and her husband Carman.

But above all he was a devoted husband and father. He loved spending time with his wife and daughter, creating memories to last a lifetime. He will be truly missed.

In addition to his devoted wife of 53 years, Priscilla, survivors include his cherished daughter, Jessica Sopek Tsutsis, an aunt, Julie Hagan, sister-in-law, Joyce Tuliano and her husband Carman, niece and nephew, Lisa Tuliano and Brian Tuliano and his wife Reyna, great niece and nephew, Brandon and Brianna, as well as many cousins and friends.
