Obituary of Luz Maria Colon Arroyo

Luz Maria Colon Arroyo, age 92, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Avelino Gonzalez, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 with her loving family by her side. Born on May 31, 1931 in Ciales, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Esteban Colon and Marcolina Arroyo.

To be closer to her family, Luz migrated to the United States in 1985, settling in Bridgeport. She was a woman of strong faith and attended church services weekly; always giving praise to God and being thankful. She loved the outdoors, nature, gardening, watching and especially feeding the birds and just enjoying and appreciating the simple things in life. Up until her final days, Luz truly loved cooking for her family. She treasured when the family was together, sharing a homecooked meal, laughing, smiling and creating a lifetime of memories. The unconditional love she gave and the values she taught, will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her nine loving children, Jose Gonzalez, Raymon Gonzalez, Victor Gonzalez, Aurea Gonzalez, Luis Gonzalez, Manuel Camacho, Marisol Camacho, Jesus Camacho, Alberto Camacho, 38 cherished grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two daughters, Iris Gonzalez and Maria De Los Angeles Gonzalez and three sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 from 4 – 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
