Obituary of Jacinto R. Cabral

Jacinto R. Cabral (Jesse), age 86, of Newtown passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Maria Julieta (Martins) Cabral. Born in São Miguel, Açores, Portugal on August 5, 1936, he was a son of the late Manual and Maria DeJesus (Costa) Cabral. Mr. Cabral was a self-employed construction contractor for many years before his retirement. He was meticulous in tending to and caring for his gardens and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. He also loved everything related to farming, the equipment, the animals and the lifestyle. His work in the construction industry afforded him the opportunity to fix and tinker with the repair and upkeep of various construction equipment, which he was quite good at. His greatest enjoyment however was found in the time he spent surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored. He took pleasure cooking Portuguese food for Jesse and Michael. He loved teaching Joey how to tend to the cows, sheep and goats. He also enjoyed teaching his gardening skills to Alek. He had much enjoyment watching Andriana sell eggs and vegetables at the stand. He had great pleasure spending time with Lexi and Cassandra and also in their younger years selling vegetables. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his beloved wife Maria, of 64 years, survivors include his devoted sons, John Cabral of Brookfield and Joseph Cabral and his wife Diana of Monroe, his cherished grandchildren, Jesse Cabral of Indiana, Michael Cabral of Newtown and Joseph Cabral, Alek Cabral and Andriana Cabral, all of Monroe, his sister’s-in-law, Maria Raposo of Bristol, RI, Clarice Cabral of Fall River, MA, Juvenalia Cabral of Stratford and Eulalia Cabral of Westport, MA, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Fernando Raposo and Jordan, Carlos and Juvencio Cabral and his sister, Floreberta Cabral.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
