Obituary of Alan H. Hunter
Alan Hunter, 76, of Easton, left the love of his life Patricia Hayman on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 after a valiant battle with Cancer.
Alan was a longtime resident of Easton and Wolcott. Before his retirement he spent 28 years working as General Manager of Benman Industries, alongside Patty, in Bridgeport. Alan and Patty lived, worked, and laughed together every day, and his years with Patty were the happiest of his life. Alan loved the outdoors and was at his best when he was out on the water in his boat, working in his garden, or puttering around outside at his lake house. He was a kind and gentle man who loved to laugh, and never met a pun he didn't like.
Alan was born in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1946 to Hugh and Minnie Hunter. He proudly served two tours of duty as a helicopter pilot in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he survived multiple crashes after being shot down by enemy fire. He later approached his battle with Cancer with the same bravery and uncomplaining strength.
Alan was preceded in death by his son, Sam Hunter.
In addition to Patty Hayman, Alan leaves behind siblings; Eileen Elder and her husband Fred, and their children, Elyce, Nathan and Courtney and her husband Dan Cogswell and their son Quinn Gilbert Hunter, Lester Hunter and his wife Ellen, nieces Amanda Hunter and her husband Brad, Kelly Pavidis and her husband Nate and their children Grace and Logan; along with his adoptive family Ben and Mary Lou Benedetto, Joe and Meg Benedetto, Scott Benedetto, Brooke, Nick and Olivia Amico and Asher Benedetto. Alan also leaves behind a number of close friends.
A prayer service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull, followed by Military Honors. Friends may greet the family beginning at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, do what Alan enjoyed most, make someone smile today.
