Obituary of Michael E. Herring
Michael E. Herring age 73, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was born in Norwalk on October 4, 1949 to the late Edward and Wanda (Poremba) Herring.
Michael grew up in Norwalk where he attended Central Catholic High School. There he participated in three sports and became a star athlete. In his senior year he was fortunate enough to be selected as the 1967 Outstanding High School Athlete of the Year for the City of Norwalk. In 1971, he graduated from Central Connecticut State College with a degree in business. During his career he worked as a purchasing manager and director for several companies in Connecticut.
Michael continued his love of sports by participating in softball and basketball leagues and playing tennis and golf. He had a love of running and was able to complete six marathons, including Boston and New York. Through the years, Michael coached his sons' baseball and soccer teams. During that time, he led the Trumbull AYSO organization as it's commissioner. Those were great years! Michael loved being with his family every chance he got! Watching his beloved grandchildren play sports was one of his greatest joys! Michael was a man of faith. He was an active member of St. Jude's Parish in Monroe.
Survivors include his two loving sons, Bradley and Matthew Herring, his sister, Kathleen Poidomani and her husband Tony, two cherished grandchildren, Griffin and Lexi, a good friend, Sharon Veronesi, his former wife, Jeanne Herring and several nieces and nephews.
All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
