Obituary of Arline Wyllie

Arline Shea Wyllie, 99, of Trumbull passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Wyllie.

Arline was born in Bridgeport, CT May 22, 1923, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary O’Connell Shea. She was a graduate of the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse for many years until her retirement.

Arline and Ray raised their family in Fairfield and Huntington CT.  After living in South Hadley, MA for a few years, Arline resided in Trumbull for the past seven years.   

Arline was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her.  She had many friends and was a well-loved member of the communities in which she lived.  She was an active volunteer in her children’s schools and church. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, reading, gardening, knitting, and was an excellent seamstress.  Arline loved spending time in the kitchen creating delicious meals and special treats to share while bringing her family and friends together.  It was one of the many ways she found to express her love.

Arline is survived by her son Jim Wyllie and his wife Dianne of Monte Sereno, CA, grandson Kevin Wyllie and his wife Kerry Erwin of Portland, OR, her loving and devoted niece and caregiver, Mary Shea Santilli (John), her sister-in-law Rita Gorman Shea, and many nephews, nieces, family and friends. 

In addition to her husband Raymond she was predeceased by her daughter Nancy, her parents, her brothers, Donald and John Shea (U.S. Navy), and sister Muriel Shea Schonagel (Ted).   

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Stephen’s Church, 6948 Main St., Trumbull, CT. Gifts in Arline’s memory may be made to Friends of the Fairfield Public Library, 1080 Old Post Road, Fairfield, CT  06824.
