Obituary of Carlos C. Silva

Carlos C. Silva, age, 100 of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Karin Neumann Silva. Born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico on November 15, 1922 he was a son of the late Zacarias and Maria Cardona Silva and was a longtime resident of Bridgeport.

Mr. Silva proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. Following his service, he joined the Merchant Marines and transported soldiers from the United States to Germany where he met Karin. They married and settled in Bridgeport where they raised their children. Before his retirement, Carlos worked at Handy and Harman with over 20 years of dedicated service. As an avid baseball fan, he was loyal to his beloved New York Mets. His Mets loved him back and presented Carlos with a military challenge coin in 2016 to honor his service to his country. He enjoyed gardening and tending to his yard, but he was a true handyman, always fixing or building something. Carlos was a man of faith and was active parishioner of St. Margaret Shrine where he served as an usher for over 20 years. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his beloved wife Karin, survivors include a son, Carlos Silva of Oviedeo, FL, a daughter, Tanya Silva Vail of Bordentown, NJ, a daughter, Lourdes Silva of Puerto Rico, a sister, Gina Silva of Texas, and three cherished grandchildren, Carlos Silva II, Jonathan Silva and Julia Helene Vail as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers and six sisters.

All funeral services will be held privately. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Margaret's Shrine, 2523 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06604.
