Obituary of Delmira Santo

Delmira Machado Santo, age 78, of Shelton, beloved wife of Anibal Santo, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 14, 2023 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 15, 1945 in Chaves, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Joao Machado and Laura Silva Machado. Delmira immigrated to the United States in 1969 with her family and settled in Bridgeport. She was a retired employee of Bridgeport Health Care Center.

She was a loving and dedicated wife, Mother and Grandmother, always putting her family's needs before her own. She treasured when her family was together and her smile could light a room when her grandchildren were by her side. She enjoyed spending long summer months at her beautiful home in Portugal with family and friends! The unconditional love she gave and the values she taught will forever live in our hearts. Delmira will be deeply missed.

In addition to her beloved husband Anibal of 60 years, survivors include her six loving children, Maria Alves and her husband Agostinho of Shelton, Christina Santos and her husband Domingos of Shelton, Isabel Maturo and her husband Philip of Wallingford, Diana Lia and her husband Dante of Shelton, Michael Santo of Shelton and Jessie Rivera and her husband Ismael Jr. of Monroe, 10 cherished grandchildren, Danny, Tony, Mark, Mathew, Dylan, Iyanah, Marisa, Cristiano, Dante and Sophia, two brothers, Luis Machado (Lucia) Joe Machado (Fernanda), two sisters, Maria Machado and Angelina Alves (George), sisters-in-law, Albina and Fernanda Machado as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Antonio, Eduardo (Tina), and Orlando Machado and three nephews, Luis, Fernando and Nelson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends can greet the family on Wednesday morning from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
