Obituary of George M. Yahwak
George Yahwak, age 79, of Trumbull, CT passed away suddenly on April 26, 2023. George was born in Auburn New York on September 20, 1943 to George and Anna Yahwak. George was predeceased by his wife and the love of his life, Rachel Yahwak.
George was a well-educated and accomplished individual. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1966 with a degree in biochemistry, after which time he and Rachel traveled to New Mexico where he earned a master's degree in microbiology. Following this, George attended American University in Washington, D.C. where he obtained a law degree while working at the US Patent Office. Upon his graduation from law school, George began working as a patent attorney. He initially worked for big industry as an attorney for Warner Lambert and Exxon. He then decided to shift his focus toward academics, taking a job at University Patents in Westport Connecticut where his focus became patent work for universities such as Cornell and the University of Pennsylvania. He patented medical devices, medical procedures, and genetic modifications for disease resistant farm crops. He continued this work in his own private practice until he accepted a position as a Magistrate for the State of Connecticut.
Family was everything to George. He is survived by his two sons, Jason Yahwak (Gail) of Gorham Maine and Joshua Yahwak (Kristen) of Middletown, CT as well as his sister, Maryanne Yahwak of Auburn, NY. He has four grandchildren, Amelia, Anna, Lucy and Benjamin Yahwak who he loved with all his heart.
A private memorial service and burial were held on May 1, 2023 in Trumbull, CT.
