Obituary of Charles G. LaRocque

Bridgeport Resident Charles Gene LaRocque, age 87, of Bridgeport, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 27, 2006 in St. Vincent Medical Center. He was a son of the late Samuel and Ida Capulet LaRocque. Charles was born on May 12, 1919, in Central Falls, RI, and was a resident of Bridgeport since 1947. Charles served as a corporal in the U.S. Army from March 14, 1941 in the European Theatre for 50 months in Iceland, England, France, Belgium, Luxemberg and was discharged on May 12, 1945 along with three Bronze Battle Stars. Before entering the army, Charles worked at the Frank Gorse Co. Inc. of Central Falls. He retired from Lindquist Supply Co. in 1987 after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Stratford Baldwin Senior Center for 20 years. He was the eldest member of the Hattertown Rod and Gun Club. He was a parishioner of St. Charles Church for over 50 years. He was a dedicated Boston Red Sox fan, fisherman and sportsman. He will be sadly missed and never forgotten. Charles will be remembered as a kind and much loved gentleman, husband and father. He was pre-deceased by his son, Robert Anthony LaRocque, brothers Samuel and Raymond LaRocque, sisters, Helen Zuba and Jeannette Rich. Survivors include his wonderful wife of 59 years, Theresa Palmiero LaRocque, a daughter Diana Pevornick and her husband Tony of Oxford and a daughter in law, Leslie LaRocque of Florida. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Robert LaRocque and his wife Lisa of Oxford, Stephanie Smith and her husband Barry of Spokane, WA, Andrea Riccio and her husband Jonathan of Seymour, Amy Pevornick of Oxford, Melanie Lesmerise and her husband Jim of New Hampshire, seven great grandchildren, Blake and Kyle Smith of Spokane, Emily and Tyler LaRocque of Oxford, Shauna and Anthony Lesmerise of New Hampshire and Giovanni Riccio of Seymour. He leaves sisters Rita DiRenzo of MA, Thelma St. Germain of MA, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull and at 11 a.m. in St. Charles Church, East Main St., Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
