Obituary of Frank G. Bernardo

Frank G. Bernardo, 89, of Trumbull passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023. He was the husband of the late Margo I. Wick Bernardo.

Frank was born in Bridgeport on March 6, 1933, a son of the late Michele and Michelina Maiello Bernardo. Frank was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. After his military service, Frank began work at Bassick Co. in Bridgeport and shortly thereafter met the love of his life, Margo I. Wick. They married in 1962 and settled in Trumbull. He continued on as a Data Processing Manager for Buster Brown Textiles where he worked for many years. Frank was a devoted family man, espousing the belief that family comes first. He loved spending time with his family, both people and animals. His pride and joy above all was his granddaughter Allison-Margo. He watched her perform at dance recitals, plays and softball games, all of which brought him much pleasure. Golf was another passion for Frank. He enjoyed the ocean and accompanying smell of the salt air, and singing and dancing.

He leaves on this earth his beloved daughter, Joann Briganti and her husband Frank, who was much more of a son to Frank than a son-in-law; his cherished granddaughter Allison-Margo; his devoted partner of 14 years Lorraine Liquigli; his sister Connie Ballerini; several nieces and nephews including his beloved Gail Dorsch, Debbie and Nick Iannuzzi and their daughter, Nicole, Judy Swenton and Michelle Dorsch Aucoin, all of whom were much more than nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by the love of his life, Margo I. Wick Bernardo, his brothers, John, Joe and Jerry Bernardo and his sister Rose Swenton.

Frank said, “Mourning is for the living- those that left are at peace.”

Frank’s family would like to thank Home Instead in Trumbull for their compassionate care, and all involved at 8 Tower East, Bridgeport Hospital for the wonderful care that they provided for Frank during his stay.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull, on Thursday, February 9, 2023  9:30 am -11:00 am, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Margaret Shrine's in Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull.
