Obituary of William R. Campbell Jr.

William R. Campbell, Jr., age 62, of Shelton passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Kimberly Hall in Windsor. Born in Bridgeport on February 6, 1960, he was a son of the late William R. and Marie Agnes (Phelan) Campbell, Sr. William attended St. Augustine School before attending and graduating from Notre Dame High School. He began his banking career, eventually taking a position in the People's Bank call center. Bill took great pride in leading his team of coworkers. After 25 years of dedicated service, he moved up the ranks to the role of Assistant Vice President when People's was acquired by M&T Bank. He built many enduring friendships throughout his career. While working at People's, he returned to school and earned his master's degree in finance from Sacred Heart University.

Bill enjoyed studying various religions, especially Buddhism, and was an avid gardener who enjoyed growing and nurturing marigolds in pots on his deck. He enjoyed time with friends and looked forward to enjoying a meal with them. His quiet, reserved demeanor coupled with a sympathetic nature and great wit endeared him to his friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his brother, John Campbell and Joan O'Connell of Stratford; his sisters, Patricia Suchy and her husband Frederick of Greenwich; and Janice Byer and her husband Paul of Crockett, CA. He also leaves his lifelong friend Brian Thomas of Trumbull and several loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and close friends too numerous to mention.

A memorial celebration of Bill's life will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Words of remembrance may be shared at the conclusion of that period. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692 or to the National Kidney Foundation, 1463 Highland Ave., Cheshire, CT 06410.
