Obituary of Ernest McPhatter Sr.

Ernest McPhatter Sr., age 82, of Bridgeport, CT entered into eternal rest peacefully on December 17, 2022 at St. Vincent's Medical Center.

Ernest was born in Red Springs, NC, to the late Thomas Russell and Nellie C. McPhatter

He was educated in the public schools of Raeford, NC and was a graduate of Central High School in Bridgeport CT. He was a faithful member of St. Augustine's Cathedral in Bridgeport CT. Prior to moving to Bridgeport CT, he was employed as a mason in both North Carolina and Virginia working in the family business. He retired from Bassick Casters as a steel machine operator and Goodwill Industries in Bridgeport, CT employed as a job coach and took much joy in helping those in need.

His faith, the unconditional love he gave, and the values he taught will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His true loves were his family and the UConn Women's basketball team. He loved photography and everyone who knew him was sure they'd be in a picture at any family event or venue. Even when he wasn't feeling his best, when asked how he was doing? His reply would always be..."Like Tony the Tiger, I'm doing grrrreat!!" followed by a smile. 

He is survived by his oldest son, Ernest McPhatter Jr. (Chrisoula) of Monroe, CT, and daughter Catherine Ramos of Bridgeport, CT, granddaughters, Tiffany M. McPhatter, Ashley C. McPhatter of Bridgeport, CT, Amaya C. McPhatter of Cromwell, CT and Madison Ramos of Bridgeport, CT, great granddaughter, Layla M. McPhatter of Bridgeport, CT. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Lee McLaughlin of Mechanicsville, MD.

He was predeceased by son Jeffrey McPhatter of Trumbull, CT, and brothers Angus McPhatter of Laurinburg, NC, James H. McPhatter of Raeford, NC, John Thomas McPhatter of Wagram, NC, Neil McPhatter of Red Springs, NC, Thearchie McPhatter of Hampton, VA and sisters Grace Sills of Raleigh, NC, Harlena Kershaw of Raeford, NC, and Ellouise Burrell of Brockton, MA.

Friends may greet the family at the Funeral Home from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2022 with a Funeral Service being held at 11:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in the Mountain Grove Cemetery, Easton.
