My deepest condolences to the family of Rosina Procopio. My name is Francine Ramos and I was a friend and neighbor to Lena Posca. I met Rosina, her mother Vittoria and Ralph many years ago at the Queen Street residence. I had the pleasure of dining with the family. I would see them often at Lena's house preparing holiday meals etc. I have always considered Lena's extended family as my family..... beautiful warm people. May God bless her soul. What a great life! God bless you all.

“ Cara mamma” and “bello” were the greetings that my mom and I exchanged during our many conversations. She was the bulwark of the Procopio family. Without her presence, our family would’ve spun out of control. But her unconditional love served to anchor my two sisters and three brothers toward worthy destinations.
As far back as I can remember, my mother worked. Inside the family she prepared the meals, cleaned the house and all the other mundane duties involved in maintaining a household.
Outside the family, I remember her working in a manufacturing company and later at a nearby school.
I always found it inspirational that my parents-two uneducated immigrants could come to America and flourish in achieving the aspiring American dream. I never remember a day in which I went hungry. Through hard work and persistence, my parents managed to transition from renting to eventually buying a home-first on Walter Street and late on Queen.
It was a hard life to be sure. The sacrifices endured was beyond measure. I remember it, as it was yesterday, my mother carrying my sister Tina in her arms after an accident in Italy circa 1957. All the townspeople gathered behind my mother on their frantic trip to the doctor. I remember so vividly that look of desperation on my mother’s face.
Years later another tragedy befell my mother. Her other beloved daughter-Mary- died while giving birth. But one door closes another opens. God- in his infinite wisdom-opened the gate to a new life in the form of Amanda.
Lastly, my brother Ralph who cared for her deeply was taking prematurely from her.
So here we are. Looking back at a remarkable life. My mother was a deeply religious woman, as was her mother-Vittoria before her. I would often see her saying the rosary accompanied by faint whisperings. She seemed delighted when I would often remark that someday God would throw open the doors to paradise to welcome her home.
My dear mother, your exemplary life of giving your children the rare gift of unconditional love, can only make our Savior proud in holding the door open for your arrival.
Love you with all my heart, cara mamma!

My mom was a great woman who has left us with many unforgettable memories in her ninety-seven years of life. She was a loving, generous and remarkable lady, an immigrant who raised six children, an endeavor filled with the trials and tribulations of life. After the passing of her son Ralph, she eventually relocated to a condo in Torrington, to be closer to us, but also to avoid climbing stairs. My mom insisted on a daily phone from me and this went on for many years. In our home we were attentive to her every need, running the gamut from groceries, laundry, doctors' appointments, and going out shopping and to restaurants, where her favorite meal was Osso Buco. I treasure my Mom's great skills at raising us and her fantastic cooking skills. She was generous, kind to all. loving us deeply.. I feel a great void in my life on her passing. In her past several months I got to enjoy having Mom in our house and to share my life with her. She may be gone but I will have her in my heart forever as my best friend.

Caring for momma these last several months was one of my greatest honors.
Momma was a kind and gentle soul. She was loved by so many. No matter what I did for her, she always thanked me.
My response was always " you don't have to thank me, I do for you because I love you".
Her bedtime routine was always the same, I would settle her in bed, put her eyedrops in, give her a kiss, tell her I loved her, tell
her to rest well and then, handed her, her rosary beads. As I left the room she would always say Thank you, and I love you.
She is so missed; her absence in our home has created much sadness
Rest easy My sweet, sweet momma. I will forever love you. Joanne
