Obituary of Elvira Barrett

Elvira "Veda" Barrett, age 83, of Trumbull, formerly of Norwalk and Stratford passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at St. Vincent's Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Harrison H. Barrett, Jr. Born in Roswell, New Mexico on April 15, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Jesus and Jesusita (Burrola) del Llano. As a young woman, Veda was a proud Lobo from the University of New Mexico. She later worked as a secretary at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk before her retirement with over 25 years of dedicated service. In addition to playing tennis, she enjoyed Thursday night volleyball with family and friends and writing stories about her life. Veda's greatest hobby was volunteering: she accumulated many hours of service assisting at St. Matthew Church in Norwalk, Oronoque Village Association and countless hours at St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, where she built and fostered many friendships. Her greatest enjoyment, however, was spent gardening and loving her grandchildren, whom she adored above all else. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother and friend of many, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her beloved husband, Harrison of 62 years, other survivors include her loving children, Sue-Ellen O'Shea and her husband John of Fairfield, Mark Barrett and his wife Tracy of Marietta, GA, R.J. Barrett and his husband Victor Reeve of New York City and Kathy Barrett and her husband Ronny Solano of Trumbull, her cherished grandchildren, Alexis, Ryan, Eva, Owen and Ruby, her brother, Ramon del Llano and his wife Mary Sue of Midland, TX and her sister, Cecelia Mills and her husband William of Murrells Inlet, SC, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Edward Barrett.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. meet directly in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 200 Shelton Rd., Trumbull. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
