Arlene was a beloved member of our small watercolor class. We gathered under the tutilage of William Duke whose gallery is on Beach Street in Salibury, MA. Our wide-ranging conversations were always brightened when Arlene was present. During dark times Arlene was always there with kindness & thoughtful ways to show she understood. We always missed her when she was absent from class providing care & comfort for a old friend or a beloved family member. Last May was an Art & Blooms Festival in Boxford. We had extra exhibit space so I contacted our watercolor class & asked if they would enter a few paintings. Arlene was there, with her paintings & a helping hand. I knew I could count on her. Arlene was dear & valued friend. She will be missed by her waterccolor classmates. Below are two of Arlene's watercolors that were enterered in last May's exhibit.

Arlene was a "cornerstone" that reached out to many of her friends that far and wide: from Mass to Florida. I was the new kid coming from Bridgeport to Andrew Warde High School in Fairfield-a shock in the life of a teenager. Our paths took us to the same college and the time passed and graduation from college and heading to the Cape in the summer with Arlene and the gang from Fairfield. I lost touch after I got married (for a while). In the last few years.... maybe about the past 20 plus years I would go to her Christmas parties and then after she moved-we met for birthdays and to exchange Christmas presents. And of course talk on the phone. The gang did meet in Florida about 10 plus maybe 20 years ago- She came up with the idea to meet some others of our group at the airport, but dressed up as old ladies. It was a lot of fun. I will miss her a lot.

I worked with Arlene for 9 years at Dexter Shoe. She was an amazing person. May God wrap his loving arms around your family during this difficult time. Godspeed Arlene.

I have known “Auntie” Arlene my entire life. I cannot imagine a world where she is not here to give a keen observation, a sarcastic retort or a few thoughts on any given subject. She was quick to laugh and never hesitated to question something if it didn’t sound quite right to her. She made the best pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, was a wicked Scrabble Player and she always responded to my messages even if it was about something stupid. I will really miss her and will think of her often.
