Obituary of Gloria Santillo Ebmeyer

Gloria Santillo Ebmeyer, 95, entered into eternal peace on September 23, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Gloria was the beloved daughter of Joseph and Josephine Santillo, of Bridgeport CT. Born into a musical family, Gloria learned to conduct the orchestra at school by the age of 6 and began singing with her four uncles in The Jack Lamar Band at age eight. Her favorite place to perform was at Pleasure Beach underneath the pavilion. Gloria graduated from Harding High School and attended cosmetology school. She spent most of her working life as a cosmetician and retail stylist, working at local Bridgeport retailers including Skydel's, Claudel's, Adora's and Levine's Coat Factory. With an eye for beauty and fashion, she took great pride in styling her customers; helping to bring out their best, brought Gloria great joy.

A lover of beauty, music, good food, fashion, family and all things Italian, Gloria often reminisced about Italy. At 23 Gloria traveled to Italy with her grandmother, a trip that she remembered and cherished for the rest of her life. Gloria also enjoyed dancing, cooking, going to theater and gathering with her friends. But her greatest love was her daughter Carla Ebmeyer and son-in-law Nick Bobko, of West Haven, by whom she was survived. She is also survived by her sister in law Sue Santillo, several nieces and nephews and many good friends.Gloria was predeceased by her sister Gertrude D'Elia and husband Ernest, and brother Joseph Santillo.

A special thanks to the staff at Cambridge Manor who cared for Gloria over the past ten years. A special thank you to Betty, Ingrid and Aida in recreation who made sure she could listen to Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin in her room and visit with her daughter throughout the pandemic. Much gratitude to her nurses' aides, especially Tammy, Bebe, Marie, Carrie, Erica, Ilmani, Phyllis and Denise for giving her special care and affection, and to the entire nursing staff for their care and support. Thanks to Angela and Jennifer, and everyone from Constellation Hospice for their compassionate care and to her roommate Nancy for her invaluable friendship over the past year. Gloria lived a full and beautiful life. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
