Obituary of Roger Martinez
Roger Martinez, age 62, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Nidia Berrios Martinez, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by his loving and dedicated family. Born in Bridgeport on August 19, 1960, he was a son of the late Miguel and Alicia Figueroa Martinez. A graduate of Warren Harding High School, Roger was formerly employed as a machinist for R & R Manufacturing.
Roger was an amazing and loving brother, friend, coach, husband, father, and grandfather. He was a devoted church member and a man of God. His love for his family was limitlessly. He loved to spend unconditional time with his children and wife. Yearly vacation was a necessity he wanted his family to experience more than just Connecticut. He was a loving man who would extend a helping hand. He was a great dad and an even better person. He loved his family and treated everyone like they were part of it. Roger devoted his life to help mold and coach children making them better baseball players and even better boys/girls that turned into adults. His former players hold such a high regard and appreciation of the man and coach he was to them from the age of 4 til this present time. Roger loved Baseball and Football with a passion, a diehard Yankees and Steelers fan. His smile could light up a room. He was the life of the party who absolutely loved to dance and drag others to dance with him on the dance floor. Full of love and laughter. Roger cherished his grandchildren, his bond and love for them was amazing and endless. But more than anything he loved his wife and she knew it. He consistently and constantly expressed his love and devotion to his wife. He loved her so dearly, she is the queen to his castle.
In addition to his devoted wife of 43 years, Nidia, survivors include his two loving children, a son, Roger Martinez II and his wife Josie and a daughter, Nivea Martinez-Spellman and her husband Ronald, five cherished and adored grandchildren, Roger and his wife Melissa, Aaliyah, Ava, Makayla and Roniyla, his mother-in-law, Rosa Berrios, five sisters, Dora, Linda, Carmen, Esmeralda, and Lissette, three brothers, Jerry, Mikey and Jorge, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Luis Martinez and his father-in-law, Luis Angel Berrios.
