Obituary of Elizabeth M. Gregg

Elizabeth "Betty" (Buckley) Gregg, age 87, of Trumbull, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at Lord Chamberlain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, joining her beloved husband, the late Leo Gregg. Born in Bridgeport on September 2, 1934, Betty was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Sustak) Buckley and was a longtime resident of Fairfield before moving to Trumbull.

Betty and Leo operated the family business together, Gregg Printing Company, formerly of Fairfield, for over 27 years until her husband’s retirement. Longtime members of the Gaelic American Club in Fairfield, Mom and Dad enjoyed many fundraisers, dances, golf outings, trips to the Cape, traveling to Ireland, singalongs with their many friends, and their legendary picnics. Above everything, their greatest enjoyment was time spent with their family.

A devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Theresa’s Church in Trumbull, Betty prayed the rosary daily and her devotion to our Blessed Mother was a pivotal part of her life. Her foundation of faith was her guiding force, and she lived her life by this example.

A resident of Florida during her retirement, Betty enjoyed her daily crossword puzzles, walks with her husband and their dog JP, going to the beach, playing golf, swimming, making friends within her community, and spending time with her brother and sister in law who lived close by.

Their move back to Connecticut to be near their family made their final years full of happy memories.  Losing Dad after nearly 62 years of marriage, the time that Mom got to spend with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren brought her much joy and comfort. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, she will be so very missed by all who loved her. Our comfort is in knowing that Mom and Dad are together again.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Lord Chamberlain, particularly the 3rd floor nurses and staff that were so kind to mom and to our family, and the Recreation Dept who made sure mom attended Mass, and helped fill her days with daily rosary, games, music, and luncheons. We are so grateful.

Survivors include her loving children, Carole LeMoult and her husband Chris of Trumbull, Dan Gregg of Trumbull, a brother John Buckley and his wife June of Florida, five beloved grandchildren, Jessica LeMoult, Heather LeMoult, Jeremy LeMoult and his wife Angela, Shea LeMoult (Jozie) and Kate LeMoult (Eric). Four cherished great grandchildren, Aleesia, JJ, Cora, and Nya, a sister-in-law Carol Dion, and her lifelong friend Sylvia Polvere, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Leo, Betty was predeceased by her sisters MaryAnn Dillon and Patricia Brazack, a brother Richard Buckley, and a great granddaughter Gianna LeMoult.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa’s Church, 5301 Main St, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
