Obituary of Joaquim Martins Veloso
Joaquim Martins Veloso, age 90, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Urbana Esteves Veloso, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 7, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 28,1931 in Gondoriz, Arcos de Valdevez, Portugal, he was a son of the late Antonio and Louisa Martins Veloso. Joaquim immigrated to the United States in 1964 to provide his family a better life.
A retired employee of O & G Construction, he was a member of the Laborer's Union Local 665 for many years. He was a hardworking man, who put the needs of others before his own. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he always supported his family in everything they did. The values he taught and the unconditional love he gave will forever live in their hearts. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include a loving son, Carlos Veloso and his wife Ana of Hillside, NJ, two cherished grandchildren, Christie Veloso and her husband Eric Holland and Jason Veloso and his fiancé Lauren Banda, an adored great grandson, Julian Thomas Holland, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Maria Ines Ferreira and Maria Ceu Da Silva, for all the care and love given to Joaquim in his time of need.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. directly in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
