Obituary of Cecelia Rose DeFranzo

Cecelia Rose DeFranzo, age 90, of Shelton passed away peacefully on Monday, August 1, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Angelo Michael DeFranzo. Born in Bridgeport on January 9, 1932 she was the daughter of the late Raphael and Concetta (Mobilio) Canale. Mrs. DeFranzo was a stay at home mom, which was one of her greatest joys and accomplishments. Her door was always open to friends and family, everyone who entered her home felt welcome. She had a way of making everyone feel like family, even if it was the first time she met you. She was passionate and proud of her home. She had a love of beautiful things, adding sparkles and glitter to everything around her. Cecelia loved to sew, she was renowned for creating personalized bereavement memory pillows for anyone that lost someone close to them. Cecelia also enjoyed writing poetry for all of her friends and family. Her originals will be treasured and enjoyed by those fortunate to read them. She looked forward to frequent trips to the casino with her daughter Linda, family and friends. She was also known for her sense of humor. She knew how to lighten any situation. However, her greatest enjoyment was found in the time she spent surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she adored above all else. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her loving children, Linda Lupulio and her husband John of Naugatuck, Joseph DeFranzo and his wife Jerrilyn of Seymour, Terry Varrone and her husband John of Southington and Michele Dias of Naugatuck, her cherished grandchildren, Melissa Morizet and her husband Darren, Michael DeFranzo and his wife Michelle, Kristen Lupulio and her partner Val Tanchyn, Lauren Lupulio, Mia Monterio and her husband Stevie, Briana Dias, Alexa Dias, Alex DeFranzo, John Varrone and his wife Jessica, Amanda McStravick and her husband Kyle and Tyler Varrone, her adored great grandchildren, Lucas, Austin, Dylan, Michael, Sofia, Sage, Mason and Grayson. Other survivors include her best friend, Mildred Rea of Bridgeport who was like a sister. In addition to her husband Angelo, she was also predeceased by her son, Michael Angelo DeFranzo and two brothers, Joseph and Salvatore Canale.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton. Interment will be held privately for the immediate family. Friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Disabled America Veterans (DAV), 35 Cold Spring Rd., Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
