Obituary of Jose Goncalves Jardim

Jose Goncalves Jardim, age 76, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 with his loving family by his side. Born on June 10, 1946 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, he was the son of the late Joao and Carolina Ragna Jardim. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Rosa and Luisa. A proud U.S. Army veteran, Joe immigrated to the United States at the age of 17. He was a retired Ironworker and was a member of the Ironworkers Local 424 for approximately 30 years before his retirement in 2001. Joe was a member of the Vasco da Gama Club, where he enjoyed a glass of wine and watching football or soccer games. He was an avid fisherman and spent a majority of his time making people laugh. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Joe dedicated his life to loving his family and will be missed greatly by all who were lucky enough to know and love him. Joe is survived by his wife of 53 years, Celeste Jardim. In addition, he is also survived by his oldest son Joseph Jardim and his wife Christine Lines; his youngest son Michael Jardim and his wife Christine Jardim; his five cherished grandchildren, Kayla and Alyssa Jardim, and Kevin, AJ and Erik Lines. Jose was a brother to Antonio Jardim from Brazil, as well as many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He was an uncle to a mass of beloved nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton. Interment with full Military Honors will follow in Huntington Lawn Cemetery South, Shelton. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday, June 27 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
