Obituary of Marietta Seymour
Marietta (Azzara) Seymour, age 95, of Bridgeport passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Harry Seymour, Jr. Born in Brooklyn, NY on May 12, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Ignatius and Columba (Randazzo) Azzara. Mrs. Seymour had been employed by the former Southern New England Telephone Company before her retirement with many years of dedicated service. Marietta proudly earned her Associates Degree from Housatonic Community College at the age of 75. She was a woman of great faith and a longtime dedicated parishioner of St. Augustine Church, where she was also a lector. She was a past president of the University of Bridgeport Women’s Club where she built many lasting friendships. Marietta enjoyed playing the piano but her greatest enjoyment was found in the time she spent surrounded by her loving family. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving children, Nannette Cristino of Bridgeport, Vicki Lee Brown and her husband Richard E. III of Middletown, Terry Seymour and his wife Candice of NY, NY and Allan Dale Seymour and his wife Anita of Springfield, MO, her daughter-in-law, Beverly Seymour of Stratford, her brother, Vincent Azzara and his wife Matilda of Toms River, NJ as well as 24 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Harry, she was also predeceased by her son, Danny Seymour and her granddaughter, Cheyenne Marietta Seymour.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 16, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Augustine Cathedral, 399 Washington Ave., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Swim Across the Sound, St. Vincent’s Medical Center Foundation, 2800 Main St., Bridgeport, CT 06606.
