Obituary of Adeline DiMatteo
Adeline "Lena" Nicoletti DiMatteo, age 83, of Shelton, beloved wife of the late Anthony (Tony) DiMatteo passed away peacefully on Monday, March 7, 2022 with her loving family by her side. Born in New York, New York on September 7, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Victor A. and Rose Catalano Nicoletti.
Along with her husband Anthony, they founded DiMatteo Insurance in 1960. Shortly thereafter they started DiMatteo Income Tax, where Lena worked and retired from in 2012.
She cherished her family, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her many years of enjoyment. Lena was an excellent cook and baker. She was known for her beautiful elaborate Christmas Cookie Trays and Pizelles that were enjoyed by many friends and family members. She traveled extensively with her husband Tony and had a large circle of close friends whom they had many good times with. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include a son, John V. DiMatteo and his wife Kim Marie, of Bethany, three loving daughters, Rosemarie Esposito and her husband John, Loretta Lesko and her husband Robert, and Victoria DiMatteo and her partner Michael Fortin all of Shelton, seven cherished grandchildren, Anthony, Jessica and Michael DiMatteo, Nicole Esposito, John Esposito and his wife Amanda, Alyssa Zavadsky and her husband Eric and Natalie Kaszei and her husband Nick; six adored great grandchildren, Luca. Lorenzo, Emerson, Harrison, Mila and Avery, sisters, Alberta Caruso and her husband Anthony and Gloria Zanvettor and her husband Robert, brother-in-law, John DiMenna, all of Stratford and sister-in-law Phyllis Peterson of Florida as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her twin sister, Tina DiMenna.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 200 Shelton Rd., Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday morning from 8:30-10:30 am in the funeral home.
