Obituary of Irene H. Sagalski

Irene Tomaszewski Sagalski, age 90, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of 61 years to the late Alfred Sagalski. Born in Bridgeport on December 18, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Sophie (Nagrabski) Tomaszewski.

Irene was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1949 where she was the valedictorian of her class, a drum majorette in the band, and played the baritone horn. She had a passion for music, played the accordion, and gave private lessons at Banko's House of Music. Irene was active in the girl scouts, enjoyed watching UConn basketball games, taking pictures, trips to the casino, and was known for all the many greeting cards she sent to family and friends over the years. She was a devout lifelong member of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Bridgeport, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild, served as a lector, and was a member of the choir. Before her retirement, she worked as a bookkeeper for many years with the City of Bridgeport. She was a wonderful and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include, three loving daughters, Catherine Lenoci and her husband Ralph, Laura Sagalski, Mary Koziel and her husband Richard, a son, William Sagalski and his wife Joan, five grandchildren, Jessica Apicella and her husband Joseph, Brandon Koziel and his fiancé Megan, Anthony Lenoci and his wife Julia, John Lenoci and his fiancé Alex, and Kevin Sagalski, and two great grandchildren, Oliver and Eleanor Apicella, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Daniel F. Sagalski and a brother, Frank Tomaszewski. The family would like to thank her loving friend and caregiver, Maia, and her two daughters Nini and Keti for their compassion in caring for Irene.

Friends may greet the family on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Michael the Archangel Church, 310 Pulaski St., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford.
