Obituary of Etelvina DeAlmeida
Etelvina DeAlmeida, age 97, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Jose DeAlmeida, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 21, 1924 in Casal Vasco, Fornos de Algodres, Portugal, she was the daughter of Maria Jose Rebelo. Etelvina immigrated to the United States on November 18, 1962 with her two daughters and settled in Bridgeport where her husband was already living. A seamstress by trade, she was formerly employed by Leather Mode Coat Factory, as well as several other area companies. After her retirement, she enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. Etelvina enjoyed sewing, praying the rosary, bingo, doing the family ironing and making soup for her family; who she always kept fed. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother grandmother and great grandmother. The unconditional love she gave, and the memories created, will always live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a great grandson Delfin (Deli) Nunes.
Survivors include two loving daughters, Maria Teresa Nunes and her husband Antonio of Bridgeport and Julia M. Solis and her husband Arturo of Seymour, seven cherished grandchildren, Isabel Barroso (Joe), Delfim Nunes (Maria), Antonio Nunes, Arturo D. Solis (Carolyn), Diana S. DeAngelis (John), Evan J. Solis and Adrian A. Solis (Michelle), 11 adored great grandchildren, Alex, Rachel, Christian, Charlotte, Ella, Sofia, Rafa, Carmela, Julian, Alessia and Luca.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport. Entombment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends can greet the family on Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. It is appreciated that visitors wear masks and social distance as they walk through, pay their respects, and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through the building.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cambridge Health and Rehabilitation Center Recreation Department, 2428 Easton Turnpike, Fairfield, CT 06825 or Constellation Hospice, 14 Westport Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06851.
