Obituary of John George Evans
John George Evans, age 82, of Shelton passed away peacefully on Monday, November 22, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Veronica "Bonnie" (Daley) Evans. Born in Bridgeport on August 27, 1939, he was a son of the late George and Dorothy (Fechko) Evans. Mr. Evans was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served honorably in the Signal Corp Division as a Corporal during the Vietnam War. Upon his discharge, he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Science from Sacred Heart University before obtaining his Master's Degree in Arts from Fairfield University. He then began a long career as a Systems Analyst for Norden and then Sikorsky Aircraft, where he retired from with over 20 years of dedicated service. John was an avid baseball fan and also enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle, with his friends and family. He held a great interest in Politics and World Events. He was a strong advocate of continuous learning and felt that there was always an opportunity to learn something new. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his step sons, David Carr Jr of Georgia, Kevin and Brian Carr of FL, his daughter-in-law, Laura Carr of Seymour, his sister, Dorothy Evans and her companion Gary Bennett of Fairfield, his brothers, William Evans of Spring Hill, FL and Edward Evans of Trumbull, his aunt, Florence Catone of Fairfield, nieces and nephews, Lisa Toth and her fiancée Richard Rollinson, William Timko and his wife Dawn, Deborah Tomis and her husband Matt, Tracy Evans, Edward Evans Jr, and Michelle Evans, as well as several great nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Bonnie, he was also predeceased by his sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Evans and Theresa Evans.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will be held privately for the immediate family. Friends may greet the family at the funeral home Monday from 12:00 noon until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 07107, www.cancer.org.
