Obituary of Eleanor Gentile

Eleanor Forte Gentile, "Miss Ellie" age 94, of Shelton, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 with her loving family by her side. Born in Bridgeport on March 19, 1927, she was the youngest of 12 children of the late Ferdinand and Louisa Fusco Forte. She was the widow of Nicholas V. Gentile, and was predeceased by her two sisters, Rose Rolleri and Lillian DeMalt and nine brothers, Ernest, Anthony, Emilio, Carl, Albert, Leonard, Edward, Eugene, and Richard Forte.

Eleanor was dedicated to the care of her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking her famous pistachio cake, anginettes cookies and "gravy" (sauce) for family and friends. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed visiting the casino. Known as the life of the party, Miss Ellie could always be found on the dance floor. What she cherished most was spending time with her family and friends, especially her great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her loving and dedicated daughter, Jody G. Antosh of Shelton, two cherished granddaughters, Nicole Cote and her husband Matthew and Ashley Castaldi and her husband Christopher, five precious great-grandchildren, Evan, Mason, Gabriella, Mackenzie and Chase and several special nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Avenue, Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Thursday, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Visitors are recommended to wear masks and social distance as they walk through, pay their respects, and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through the building.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff on One North at Griffin Hospital for their special care and compassion for Miss Ellie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an education fund through the funeral home to benefit her great-grandchildren.
