Obituary of Mary Kozej

Former Trumbull Resident Mary Horovcak Kozej, age 89, formerly of Trumbull, a resident of Northbridge Health Care Center, died on Thursday, February 23, 2006 in St. Vincent Medical Center. Born on October 20, 1916 in Bridgeport, she was a daughter of the late John and Barbara Sabol Horovcak. She was a lifelong homemaker and had also worked for the Frizbee Pie Company, American Chain Company and Remington Rand. She enjoyed baking ethnic pastries such as nut and poppy rolls and her specialty, nut, apricot and prune cookies and working in her yard, cutting the grass on her sit down lawn mower, painting indoors and out and in general loved to take things apart to see how they worked. She wasnt afraid of hard work. She always had a smile on her face and took each day in stride. She was pre-deceased by her husband, John Kozej, a brother, Michael Horvack, two sisters, Anne Stack and Irene Chmielewski, a son-in-law, Dr. Edmund L. Barbieri. Survivors include a son, John R. Kozej and his wife, Mary Pfannkuch Kozej and a daughter, Arlene Barbieri, all of Stratford, a brother, John Horvack of Milford, a sister, Mildred Vrooman of Clifton Park, NY, five grandchildren, Gheri Kozej of Stratford, Stephanie Kozej of Milford and Megan Kozej of Bridgeport, Jay Barbieri and his wife, Suzanne Bender Barbieri of Hollywood, CA and Ralph Barbieri and his wife, Michelle Menard Barbieri of Wilton, a great grandson, Luke E. Barbieri of Wilton, a godson, John Horvack, Jr. of Milford and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 406 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
