Obituary of Janice E. Scheer

Janice E. (Wiedwald) Scheer, age 75, of Fairfield passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at CT Hospice in Branford surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Gerard J. Scheer, Sr. Born in Bridgeport on February 10, 1946 she was a daughter of the late John and Mildred (Maloy) Wiedwald. Janice had been employed by St. Vincent's Medical Center, where she worked as an administrative assistant until 1998. She then began a career with Willow's Pediatric Group in Westport before her subsequent retirement in 2013. She was an avid reader and also loved to cook and bake. She also cherished her time spent at the beach and vacationing in Rhode Island. Her greatest enjoyment however was found in the time she spent surrounded by her loving family, especially her cherished granddaughters, whom she had adored. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving children, Stefanie Oliveira and her husband Carlos of Newport, RI and Gerard Scheer, Jr. and his wife Meredith of Trumbull, her cherished granddaughters, Olivia and Vivian Scheer, her sister, Dolores Wiedwald of Trumbull and her special niece, Carole Maurati and her husband Quirino of Milford and their children, Michael and Melita. In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by her sister, Carole Wiedwald and her brother, John Wiedwald.

A walk-through visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Guests will be required to wear a face mask and socially distance as they enter the building, pay their respects and exit in order to allow others the same opportunity. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. directly in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 200 Shelton Rd, Trumbull. Interment will be held privately for the immediate family.
