Obituary of Catherine M. Castaldo
Catherine Scappatura Castaldo, age 100, formerly of Shelton and Stratford, beloved wife of the late James J. Castaldo, died on Monday, May 10, 2021. Born in Bridgeport on February 18, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Delzio Scappatura. She always had a smile and a compliment for everyone she met. For many years, Catherine had worked along with husband as a secretary at his insurance agency. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Cogswell and her husband Charles of Shelton, three sisters, Yolanda Caramanica, Mafalda Covino and Joan Mas and her husband James, two grandsons, William J. Hite and Keith Hite and his wife Kathy, great grandchildren, William Hite Jr. and his wife Aylene, Keith Hite Jr. and his wife Megan, Larissa Hite and her partner Han Thoum and Kaylee Hite, great great grandchildren, Alexa and Aubree Hite and Jaiden and Liam Thoum and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband James, she was predeceased her daughter, Jacqueline Hite, a brother, Anthony Scappatura, sisters, Josephine Bianchi and Mary Keane and granddaughter Faith Hite.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to nurses, Monique, Kathy and Maria and aides, Sandra and Georgette form the Jewish Senior Services in Bridgeport.
Friends are invited to meet directly in Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford, on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 11 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity in memory of Catherine. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
