Obituary of Maria C. Fontes

Maria do Céu Sequeira Fontes, age 65, of Trumbull, beloved wife of the late Mario Jorge Fontes, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in Valpacos, Portugal on January 16, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Armando Nogueira Sequeira and Adelaide Ferreira and was a longtime resident of Trumbull.

In 1977, Maria and her late husband Mario Fontes immigrated to Bridgeport, Connecticut in order to provide a better life for their family. She worked as a pharmacy technician at St. Vincent's Medical Center for many years before her retirement in 2007. Until the time of her passing, she was employed by Cooper Surgical, Inc., of Trumbull. Her family was the most important focus in her life. Her greatest joys came from spending time with her three adored granddaughters and shopping for them; she also loved cooking traditional specialties for her family on Sunday afternoons and holidays. She was a devoted, loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her loving children, Carla Fontes-Alers and her husband Victor of Trumbull and Pedro Fontes and his wife Cindy of Shelton, and her cherished granddaughters, Isabella, Liliana and Gabriela and two sisters, Fatima of France and Rosa of Portugal.

All funeral services were held privately. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
