Fred. I met him first at Stratford Bait+Tackle where he was holding forth to owner John Posh and anyone else willing to listen, on the outrage of the attempts of Westport to curtail public clamming around Cockeone Island. This was a man who knew his mind and spoke it without filters. You quickly knew this man was a fighter; a fighter for the little guy. Fred did not suffer fools gladly, including me a couple of times, but you knew he cared. Connecticut outdoors folks have lost a legend.

Dear Claire and Family,
We are so very sorry about the loss of dear Fred. He has and always will have a very special place in our hearts. How blessed are we to have had the opportunity to spend time with you. We have so many memories that we will treasure now. What an incredible time we had when Fisherman Fred so kindly agreed to share his love of fishing with children with special needs here in Fairfield. The weeks we spent together were so wonderful and the final class at a special reservoir in Redding is a day we will never forget. Our daughter Lily and her friends were filled with smiles from ear to ear as they caught fish all afternoon! Thank you Fisherman Fred for the gifts you gave! And, of course, sharing our faith week after week together at Assumption Church and the many, many social gatherings both at Church and beyond. Fred was a true friend, a very dear friend, a very special friend and we will miss him very much. Our love and prayers are with all of you. May he live in your hearts forever as he smiles down from his heavenly perch. Mary, Patrick, & Lily

Dear Claire and Family,
We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Fred. We were so lucky to have all the wonderful memories of the times we got to spend together. We loved working the Fairfield County League picnics with him and the lobster fests. He was always one for a good story.
Thinking of you all in this difficult time.
Love,

Fred was always wonderful to talk to at Fairfield County Fish and Game. He was so passionate about Introducing people to the outdoors. I would make it a point to spend a few minutes talking to him after the meetings as he always had a good story to tell.
RIP Fred!
