Obituary of Michael Guerrera

Michael Guerrera, age 92, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Pasqualina Mancini Guerrera, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 18, 2021. Born in Pontelandolfo, Benevento, Italy on May 4, 1928, he was a son of the late Angelo and Nicolina Guerrera. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1954 and settled in Bridgeport, CT, where he would reside for the rest of his life.

A member of the Connecticut Laborers Union, he was employed by a number of local construction companies, including the Frouge Corporation. He ultimately retired as a valued employee of the Westfield Trumbull Mall after 30 years of dedicated service.

Michael enjoyed gardening and tending to his variety of fruit and fig trees, gladly sharing their bounty with family and friends. He occupied his retirement years as a dedicated bird fancier and award winning breeder of canaries, lovebirds, cockatiels and parrots. Michael was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who valued time with his family. His generous and loving spirit will live in the hearts of all who knew him.

Michael is survived by his loving children, Dr. Angelo Guerrera and his wife Janice Portentoso of Fairfield, and Dr. Robert Guerrera and his wife Lisa of Norwalk; four cherished grandchildren, Sophia, Lily, Zachary and Evan Guerrera; his sisters, Giovannina Guerrera of Bridgeport, and Patricia Longo of Monroe; a brother-in-law, Donato Mancini and his wife Maria of Waterbury, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Salvatore Guerrera.

The family is grateful to Jewish Senior Services for their compassionate care of Michael.

A walk-through visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 24, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Visitors are asked to wear masks and social distance as they walk through, pay their respects, and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through the building. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew's Church, 435 Anton St., Bridgeport. Entombment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Jewish Senior Services, 4200 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06604 or online at https://jseniors.org/donations
