Obituary of Brian Nicholas Vogel

Brian Nicholas Vogel, age 35, formerly of Trumbull, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 1, 2021 in San Francisco, CA. Born in Bridgeport on August 15, 1985, he was the younger son of Mark N. and Donna (Caltabiano) Vogel of Trumbull. A graduate of Indiana University in 2007, Brian later earned his MBA in Finance & International Business from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. For the last 3 years Brian was employed by Dodge & Cox, a financial firm in San Francisco, where he worked as integral member of the Private Client Group Team.

Brian had a passion for life. He was always loyal and devoted to his family, his treasured friends and respected colleagues – all of whom idolized him in return. He loved travel, new experiences, fine dining, long walks, researching cars, hunting for real estate, and expanding investment portfolios.  He was an avid fan of Indiana University and St. Joseph High School sports. Brian was a visionary, was determined, embraced politics, loved a good debate, and nurtured plants.

Brian was beyond generous, with family and friends. If you mentioned or liked something – it was yours, whether he purchased it for you or gave you one of his own.  Late night deliveries from Brian were not uncommon. He was exceptional in his ability to connect with others, and was always thinking of, helping, or giving to someone. His magnificent and heartwarming smile will be emblazed in his family and friends hearts always.  Brian was selfless and actively engaged in his family and friends’ lives.  When you met Brian, you never forgot him, and he never forgot you. Brian’s warm personality, quick wit and humor drew people to him.

His survivors include his loving parents, Mark and Donna, his sister, Christen Vogel and her husband Adam Buxbaum of Weston, his brother, Anthony Vogel and his wife Alexandra of New Canaan, his cherished nephew Grant Vogel, several loving aunts, uncles and cousins, godchildren Maxime Vogel and Jade Minar, dear friends too numerous to mention, and beloved family dog Brooklyn.  Brian was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Anthony V. and Gloria (Vazzano) Caltabiano, paternal grandparents Martin and Rose (Simone) Vogel, and his uncle, Dr. John A. Caltabiano.

Interment will be held privately.  A celebration of Brian’s life will be held in the spring for all he touched.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Brian’s memory may be made to http://www.cfnova.org/brian
