Obituary of Frederick H. Brackett

Frederick H. Brackett, age 87 of Shelton (originally from Yonkers, NY), beloved husband to Carol Mesler Brackett, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 3rd, 2021 at his home with his family by his side. Born on June 7th, 1933 in Bronx, New York, he was son of the late Frederick and Mildred Schumann Brackett. Prior to retirement, Fred worked for many years as Vice President of the commercial mortgage and loan division of the Bowery Savings Bank in Manhattan. Outside the office, he enjoyed golfing, traveling, music, and playing a mean game of charades. But his greatest joy was being surrounded by family, friends, and neighbors. His door was always open, where he welcomed his guests with meaningful conversation and a good Old Fashioned. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and neighbor, and will be truly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his loving wife Carol of 64 years, he is survived by his three cherished daughters, Cathy Bostley and her husband Mike of Trumbull, Linda Rufino and her husband Tim of Trumbull, and Donna Tallent of Trumbull; adored grandchildren, Kristina (David) and Michelle (Anthony) Bostley, John and Jillian Tallent, Robert Rufino, and Caitrin DeSimone; his brother-in-law Larry Mesler and wife Carolyn, his nephew and nieces, Larry, Lori, and Amy, and their loving families. We extend our gratitude to Melanie and Bianca, who lovingly supported him through his final days. We are thankful to his friends, neighbors, and all those who spent time with him; you truly brought him happiness.

A walk-through visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 9th, 2021 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, CT 06611. Visitors are asked to wear masks and social distance as they walk through, pay their respects, and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through the building. A Memorial Service will immediately follow in the funeral home at 12:00 pm. Inurnment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Frederick's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 200 Executive Blvd. Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489 or at www.alz.org/ct.
