Obituary of Maryann Passe

Maryann Pagano Passe, age 80, of Trumbull, Connecticut and beloved wife of William J. Passe, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. Born in Graniti, Province of Messina, Sicily, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Sebastian and Carmella Messina Pagano and came to the United States as a young girl. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cared for and loved her family deeply.

She was a dedicated employee for 21 years with the Bridgeport Public Schools Board of Education, and most recently worked as a Bookkeeper for the Department of Youth Services Lighthouse Program until her retirement in September 2018.

Maryann's grandchildren loved spending time with their "Mimi," and she always called them her "four angels." She never missed a dance recital, singing performance, basketball game, or event at school. She enjoyed every moment spent with her family, especially on holidays, and she cooked the most delicious food. Her pizzelle and Hershey Kiss peanut butter cookies were one of a kind and baking them with her family was the highlight of the Christmas season. She was a guiding light for her family, who will carry her advice and frequent phrases, referred to as "Mimi-isms," with them every day. Maryann embodied the truest form of kindness and showed her family an infinite amount of love. Her family was the light of her life, which was evident when she spent time with her husband, daughters, grandchildren, and sons-in-law, Craig and Hal, whom she often referred to as her sons. Her family cherishes the words she told them, that they were "her sunrise and sunset."

In addition to her loving husband William of 59 years, survivors include her two loving daughters, Lisa Massaro and her husband Craig of Fairfield and Annette Tara and her husband Hal of Trumbull, her four cherished grandchildren, Carissa and Brandon Massaro and Victoria and Jessica Tara, her sisters-in-law, Marlane Pagano of Stratford and Italia Pagano of Monroe, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Anthony Pagano and Carmelo Joseph Pagano.

Friends and family are invited to meet directly at St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull on Monday, January 25, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Face masks will be required and please adhere to social distancing, the funeral Mass can also be viewed via livestream at www.sttheresatrumbull.org. Private entombment will be at St. Michael Cemetery Garden Mausoleum, Stratford. There will be no calling hours.
