Roger Hanock

Obituary of Roger P. Hanock

Roger P. Hanock, Sr., age 86, of Monroe, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January13, 2021 at Bridgeport Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Cecile Lancia Hanock and the late Joan L. Zieders Hanock. After graduating Bassick High School, he worked as a machinist for Ber-Han Precision and before his retirement, he spent 21 years with Sikorsky Aircraft of Stratford as a lead man in the gear room. He proudly served 18 years as a Naval Reservist and partnered with Joan in J & R Ceramics of Monroe. Roger was a true craftsman as his tool chest was immense. He could repair, construct or engineer whatever his passion desired. An avid stock car fan, he loved his trips to Charlotte Motor Speedway with his brothers. Also, as a true fan of the New York Rangers and the sport of hockey itself, he had a brief playing stint with the over 30 league in Bridgeport as a goalie. But his true love was to attend his grandsons' games from youth hockey, high school, college, all the way through semi-pro and adult leagues. Roger and Cecile enjoyed their many cruises and travels overseas; especially their trip to Paris where they became engaged at the Eiffel Tower. Most recently he attended and volunteered at the Monroe Senior Center and was a member of the Black Rock Congregational Church of Fairfield. He was a loving and caring man and his witty story telling and truly lovely personality will be sorely missed by all. In addition to his beloved wife Cecile, survivors include, two loving children, Roger "Rocky" Hanock Jr. and Jodi O'Sullivan (John) both of Hamden, three grandchildren, Justin O'Sullivan of Milford, Sean O'Sullivan (Jenica) of Eagan, MN, and Kelsey Lee of Franklin, TN, three great grandchildren, Gabriel, Abby and Caden, two brothers, Ronald Hanock (Janet) of Charlotte, NC and Robert Hanock (Barbara) of Ansonia, as well as several nieces and nephews. He also leaves to cherish his memory three stepchildren, Michele Russo (David), Anna Marie Hadoulis and Michael Vena Jr. (Phyllis), as well as step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Due to the concerns about social gatherings affecting us all at this time because of the Covid-19 Pandemic, funeral and interment services will be held privately for immediate family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull
