Obituary of Louis Charles Scanzillo

Louis Charles Scanzillo, age 86 of Trumbull CT, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 1st, 2021 at Ludlowe Center for Health and Rehabilitation from complications due to Parkinson’s Disease.  Mr. Scanzillo was born in Bridgeport CT, son of Thomas and Margaret Scanzillo.  Louis (‘Lou’) worked in the printing industry for several organizations, a trade he took great pride in.

Lou proudly served in the US Army receiving the rank of corporal in the 25th Infantry Division Tropic Lightning.

Lou was a devoted parishioner of St. Theresa Church in Trumbull and a member of the Trumbull Lions Club.  In retirement he enjoyed bowling with the Tashua Men’s Bowling League, tending to his vegetable garden and cruises with his wife.

Lou had a very strong work ethic and often held two jobs to support and provide extras for his family.  Lou put great emphasis on the value of a college education for his children, while he did not have that opportunity himself.

Lou was a wonderful, supportive and loving father who was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lou was an outstanding role model and led by example up until his final days.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years Eleanor (Faiella) Scanzillo. Devoted children Cynthia (Joseph) Kundrat of Shelton, Edith (Daniel) DiMuro of Trumbull and Thomas (Elizabeth) Scanzillo of Monroe.  Loving Grandchildren Mark (Jessica) Kundrat of Trumbull, Michael (Amy) Kundrat of Ellington, Cristina (Michael) Trnik of Newtown, and Julia and Matthew Scanzillo of Monroe.  Great Grandchildren Mason and Madeline Kundrat and John Trnik.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the caring staff at Ludlowe Center, especially nurses Sherry and Dora.
