Obituary of Elio A. DiVito

Elio A. DiVito, age 79, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Filomena (Celini) DiVito. Born in Rosanisco, Province of Frosinone, Italy on July 6, 1941 he was a son of the late Giuseppe and Italia (Mancini) DiVito. Elio was a tile man by trade and was the owner and operator of Masters Tile, before his retirement in 2017. To Elio, his family was his greatest accomplishment. Whether it was the annual family vacation to Newport, or dressing up as Santa for his grandchildren on Christmas Eve, Elio always put family first. He loved making wine and passing his knowledge of winemaking to family and friends. He was an avid bowler and was a member of two bowling leagues at Nutmeg Lanes in Fairfield. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend of many, he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his beloved wife Filomena of 53 years, other survivors include his loving children, Adele DiVito of Monroe, Deborah Capozzi of Trumbull and Daniel DiVito and his wife Melissa, also of Trumbull, his cherished grandchildren, Alessandro and Sabrina Torri, Alyssa and Richard “Ricky” Capozzi, and Cristiano and Gemma DiVito, his brother, Vinny DiVito and his wife Anna of Trumbull and his sister, Delfa DiVito of Italy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may attend a graveside committal service on Monday, January 4, 2021 in Section 3 of Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 1056 Daniels Farm Road, Trumbull at 12:00 pm. Face masks are required and social distancing will be expected.
