Obituary of Constance C. Barr

Constance C. Barr, age 87, of Bridgeport passed away peacefully on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Harry W. Barr. Born in Mount Carmel, PA on March 22, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Martha (Pulaski) Dettrey. Constance loved watching baseball and was an avid fan of the Bridgeport Bluefish, Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Yankees. She enjoyed word search puzzles, but her greatest pleasure was found in the time she spent surrounded by her family and taking care of them. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving children, Ruth Rupani and her husband Moe of Naugatuck, Patricia Barr of Seymour, Mary Barr of Bridgeport and James Barr also of Bridgeport, her cherished grandchildren, Luis, Christopher, Courtney, Stephanie, Michael and Matthew, her adored great grandchildren, Cadence, Gabriel, Brianna and Isaiah, her brother, Raymond Dettrey and his wife Carol of Pasadena, MD, her sister, Eleanor O'Hearn and her husband Fritz of Kulpmont, PA, her brother-in-law, Thomas Green of Bedford NH, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Harry, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Jackie Barr, her brother, Francis Dettrey, her sisters-in-law, Ennie Dettrey and Nancy Green.

A walk-through visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 from 8:30–9:30 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Visitors are asked to wear masks and social distance as they walk through, pay their respects, and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through the building, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Lane, Shelton.
