Obituary of Vera Basileo

Vera Prella Basileo, age 80, of Trumbull, beloved wife of the late Joseph Basileo, died on Friday, January 5, 2007 at Stamford Hospital. A daughter of the late Louis and Josephine Marotta Prella, she was born February 18, 1926 in Paterson, New Jersey and lived with her family in Stratford for 30 years before moving to Trumbull five years ago. Vera retired in 1991 after 20 years of service from Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford.

Survivors include her devoted children, a daughter, JoAnn Basileo Pavone, a son, Sal Basileo and daughter-in-law Ethel Basileo, a daughter, Mary Jean Basileo and son-in-law Daniel Solaz, all of Trumbull, four grandchildren, Amy Basileo, Matthew Basileo, Spencer Solaz and Carson Solaz, all of Trumbull and a brother, Carl Prella and sister-in-law Mary Prella of Totowa, New Jersey. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Michael Pavone and her good friend Thomas DiMartino. Vera will be remembered for her devotion to her family and friends, her love of cooking and her commitment to her faith. 

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 8 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Paterson, NJ. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stamford Health Foundation, 9 West Broad Street, 9th Floor, Stamford, CT, 06902, designate "Wound Care Center, in memory of Mrs. Basileo.
