Obituary of June M. Kimball

Pioneer for Women In Business June M. Kimball, the founder of The Kimball Group, one of Fairfield Countys leading commercial real estate and development firms, died Thursday, November 6, 2008 at home following a long battle with lung cancer. Ms. Kimball was 76. Along with her former husband, the late James G. Kimball, she helped grow the Company from its modest beginnings in 1980 to its position today as a significant developer of commercial property. Ms. Kimball was a founding Chair of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council Womens Leadership Council. She was the recipient of numerous community awards, including the Girl Scouts Women of Distinction in 2005. She was a longtime supporter of a multitude of community organizations, from the Bridgeport Bluefish to Lauralton Hall, the Bridgeport Symphony, St. Vincents Swim Across the Sound and the new St. Vincents Cancer Center. Ms. Kimballs business career spanned 55 years. Prior to founding The Kimball Group, Ms. Kimball served as President of Totel Systems. She was also active for many years in Republican politics, serving as a member of the Trumbull Town Council. She is a graduate of Lauralton Hall and the University of Connecticut. June Kimball is survived by her three children; Jane Kimball Warren of West Hartford, a partner in the law firm of McCarter & English; John M. Kimball, CEO of the Kimball Group, of Monroe; and Jeffrey S. Kimball, a writer living in Westport, as well as three step children; Susan G. Kimball of Yarmouth, Maine; James Bruce Kimball of Greenwich and Nancy A. Kimball of Englewood, Florida. She also leaves behind her devoted son-in-law, Steve Warren of West Hartford, and her two daughters-in-law, Jill Kimball of Monroe, and Patty Lewis of Westport. Her grandchildren were the love of her life; Katie and Chris Warren of West Hartford; Jack and Susan Kimball of Monroe; and Alexa and Elyse Kimball of Westport, along with Aaron Lattin of Florida, Stephanie Staidle, Jamie, Chris and Nathan Kimball of Greenwich and Reilly, Sam, Caroline and Sophie Lewis of Westport. She was pre-deceased by her mother, Jane F. Marquis, formerly of Shelton, her husband James G. Kimball, formerly of Trumbull, and her daughter-in-law, Amy S. Kimball, formerly of Easton. Funeral Information A wake will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2008 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 10, 2008 at St. Stephens Roman Catholic Church, 6948 Main Street, Trumbull. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
