Obituary of Peter Vincent Schwickert

Peter Vincent Schwickert, age 80, of West Haven, beloved husband of the late, Diena M. Raffaeli Schwickert, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 20, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ljubljana, Slovenia, former communist Yugoslavia, he was a son of the late Franz Joseph and Anica Korent Schwickert.

Peter was a retired teacher for the City of Bridgeport with 35 years of dedicated service. He loved being an educator and took great pride in helping his students achieve their goals. A loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his two loving daughters, Ann Marie Provenzano and her husband Marc of Milford and Karen Downs of Guilford, four cherished grandchildren, Angela, Julia and Mariah Provenzano and Damon Downs; Sisters Ann Raffaeli and her husband Reno of California, and Lucia Thomashefski and her husband Steve of Michigan. Brother in-law Lidio Raffaeli of Stratford. He was predeceased by his son, Vincent Schwickert and his sisters, Marietta Ruel and Stella Klanchich.

Due to the concerns about social gatherings affecting us all at this time, a private funeral and entombment service was held for the immediate family.
