Obituary of Mathew J. Martiro

Mathew J. Martiro, age 85, beloved husband of Carol Sullivan Martiro of Trumbull passed away on Friday, April 24, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bridgeport on July 6, 1934, he was a son of the late Vincent Martire and Josephine Ruggiero Viglione and was a longtime resident of Trumbull. Mathew was proud to have served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and before his retirement he was a machinist at Textron Lycoming for over 31 years. He was an avid bowler and a longtime member of the Tashua Senior Men's Bowling League. His other enjoyment was working around his yard and was very meticulous with his lawn and gardens. His greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family. In addition to his beloved wife Carol of 61 years, survivors include two loving children, Lynn Martiro and Mathew J. Martiro, Jr., a cherished grandson, Anthony, a sister, Virginia Hofford and a sister-in-law, Betty Viglione as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Anthony Viglione. Due to the concerns about social gatherings affecting us all at this time, a private funeral and interment service with full military honors will be held privately for the immediate family.
