Obituary of Dorothy Kerekes

Dorothy Dolly (Macisco) Kerekes, age 87, of Newburgh, IN, formerly of Stratford, passed away at the VNA Charlier Hospice Center in Evansville, IN, after a 7 year battle with Alzheimers. Dorothy was born on September 29, 1922, the first of ten children to Nicholas & Mary (Negrilli) Macisco of Stratford. During her working years, she held various positions from packing bullets at Remington Arms in Stratford during the war years to a meat wrapper for the Shop-Rite Food Market in Bridgeport. Dorothy was a member of the Meat Packers Union. Dorothy's passion was baking. She made everything from cookies to wedding cakes for all her friends and family. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Paul of 52 years, her parents, her brothers Anthony Macisco of Stratford and Fredrick Macisco of Sebring, FL, her brothers in law James Mooney of Stratford and Edwin Royer of Miami Springs, FL. Dorothy leaves her family behind to cherish her memories, son Paul Kerekes and his wife Judy of Middleburgh, NY; daughter Katherine Jobe and her husband Alan of Newburgh, IN; grandchildren, Christine Piteo and her husband Joe of Madison; Jeffrey Kerekes and his wife Pei Ye of New Haven, Tracy Dunn and her husband Jamie of Trumbull, Ben Jobe and his wife Erin of Newburgh, IN, three precious great-grandchildren: Christopher and Jake Dunn of Trumbull and Sofia Piteo of Madison, sisters, Violet Royer of Miami Springs, FL; Elizabeth Mooney of Stratford and Louise Provenzano and husband Al of Stratford, brothers, James Macisco and wife Joan of Plant City, FL, Albert Macisco and his wife Laurie of Trumbull and Raymond Macisco and wife Lorraine of Sarasota, FL, sister in law, Selina Macisco of Sebring, FL, 23 nieces and nephews, 40 great nieces and nephews and 9 great-great nieces and nephews. Dorothy also leaves behind her extended family in Indiana: Peter and Jenny Barry and their children Rachel and Ryan of Newburgh; Lanny and Laura Jobe, Lanny Keith Jobe Jr, Laura Sophie Chandley and her son Landon Chandley of Evansville and in Connecticut: Louise (Babe) Rossi of Stratford, Kate Kutash and her family of Shelton and Cecilia Sliwinski of Delray Beach, FL. Dorothy will be forever remembered for her attention to detail, her never ending energy her ability to clean and her favorite saying of "I Love You, a Bushel and a Peck, and a Hug around the Neck, with all my Heart." Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 8:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:00 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
