Obituary of Louis J. Mario
Louis "Jimmy" Mario, beloved brother, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2020, at Danbury Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Jimmy was born on June 27, 1940, in Bridgeport, CT. He was the son of the late James and Ethel (Kocsis) Mario. In his early years, Jimmy worked with his dad in the family construction business. He spent many years behind the wheel of a tractor-trailer while working for the Teamsters Local 191. He took great pride in covering hundreds of thousands of miles without any incidents. He also spent many years driving the Teamsters Health Service van delivering medical equipment to the union members at their homes.
He also owned and operated a moving company and paving business. Jimmy had a passion for cars, racing, football and spending time with many friends. He spent many winters enjoying the Florida weather and often spectating at the Daytona 500 races. He loved to tell stories of going to the Super Bowl and hopping a plane to see the Pro Bowl in Hawaii with his sisters. He was a faithful Oakland Raiders fan.
He was a very proud brother, father and grandfather. His pride and joy were his grandchildren. He never hesitated to jump in the car and drive to a dance recital, concert, basketball or soccer game. He wanted to spend as much time as possible with his girls.
Jimmy is survived by his loving son, Tyler Mario and his wife Laura of Southbury, his cherished grandchildren, Camden and Isabelle, his sisters, Sheila Ackley of Bridgeport and Donna Bailey and her husband Lou of Trumbull. He is also survived by a nephew, Frank Shea of Stratford and his former wife, Jayne Olson of Maine. He was predeceased by his sister Cynthia, brother-in-law Bob Shea and nephew John Shea.
