Obituary of Louis Rospars

Louis Rospars (Lou), age 90, of "the Villages", Lady Lake, FL and Trumbull, CT, beloved husband of Janet Shambaugh Rospars, passed away after a sudden illness on December 28, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Lou was born on January 16, 1929, in Manhattan, NY, son of Louis Rospars and Catherine Bleuzen Rospars. He grew up in Fort Lee, NJ and graduated from Rider College, class of 1950. Lou served in the Army during the Korean War, receiving his honorable discharge in 1953. He retired from American Cyanamid after 41 years of service as a systems specialist. He lived in Monsey, NY for 50 years with his wife and raised two daughters. Lou was the ultimate Mr. Fix-It. He enjoyed golf, trading stocks and playing cards. Lou generously gave of his time, serving and caring for family and friends. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels and spent countless hours building for Habitat for Humanity. He was a faithful Catholic, a Knight of Columbus, a Eucharist Minister and a Son of St. Joseph at St. Theresa's Church in Trumbull. He is predeceased by his mother, father and brother, Eugene Rospars. He is survived by his wife, Janet Shambaugh Rospars, his sister Monique McMahon of Rocky Hill, CT, his daughters Elizabeth Porras of Monroe, NY and Janine Becker of Trumbull, CT, Sons-in-law, Robert Porras and Scott Becker and grandchildren, Steven Porras, Julianne Becker, Jennifer Becker and Olivia Becker and a number of nieces and nephews. A Mass for Christian Burial will be held at St. Theresa's Church, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull, CT on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity, c/o Paterson Habitat for Humanity P.O. Box 2585, Paterson, NJ 07509.
